Mary Ann O’Neill
Mary Ann O'Neill, 86, of Zelienople, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, while in the comfort of her home.
Born June 14, 1935, in Thomas, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Basil Paugh and Sunday D'Amico Paugh.
Mary Ann loved her community and was a faithful member of St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church.
She loved her friends at the Rock Lake community, playing cards and dining with her lunch group. Mary Ann’s love was her family, especially her grandkids, Sean and Liam, who called her “EnEn.”
She was raised on a farm in Davis, W.Va., and attended Horseshoe Run School. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy of Cleveland, Ohio, after a family move.
She was an excellent cook, baker and homemaker. It was during the holidays that her special gifts were brought out to shine. Her loving and generous nature had her sharing her baked goods with friends. Her wedding soup was so good it was called “Gold.” Many family friends enjoyed the hospitality of her home. Her daughters’ friends, who came to know her, also called her “mommy,” because of her loving and sweet ways.
Mary Ann worked 16 years for the St. Barnabas Health System. She held several positions there and retired as an admissions counselor.
She will be fondly missed and lovingly remembered.
Mary Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Carla A. O'Neill of Butler, and Peggy (Aaron) Higby of Sherwood, Ore.; and her grandchildren, Sean and Liam Higby.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, August P. Catalano, and her second husband, James L. “Seamus” O’Neill.
