Claude DeWayne 'Pete' Filges

Claude DeWayne “Pete” Filges, 81, of Butler passed away at 7:45 p.m. Friday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 28, 1931, in Butler to the late Harry Edward Filges and Cora Alma (Christie) Filges.

Mr. Filges was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a heating and cooling technician for the A & E Oil Co. until his retirement Oct. 17, 1995. He was a member of the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pete enjoyed tractor pulling, hunting and working on cars.

Mr. Filges is survived by his wife, Kay Joan (Shields) Filges, who he married Dec. 23, 1957; two daughters, Darlene A. Callihan and her husband, Matthew, and Mary Beth Martsolf and her husband Scott, both of Butler; one son, William James “Jim” Filges and his wife, Beverly, of Chicora; four grandchildren, Jessica Stack and her husband, Ryan, Michael Graham and his wife, Cortney, Allison Graham and Daniel Filges; one brother, Glenn Filges and his wife, Rose, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

FILGES — Friends of Claude DeWayne “Pete” Filges, who passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman officiating.
