WASHINGTON, June 6 — Following is President Roosevelt's prayer for success of our arms in their task — a prayer in which he asks all to join when he utters it by radio at 10 p.m. EWT tonight:

... “They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. ... Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.”

... “Lead us to the saving of our country, with our sister nations into a world unit that will spell a sure peace — a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.

SUPREME HEADQUARTERS, Allied Expeditionary Force, London, June 6 — The following is the text of General Eisenhower's order of the day:“You are about to embark on the great crusade toward which we have striven those many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving peoples everywhere march with you.“You will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe and security for ourselves in a free world.“Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely ...”

... “Many dangers and difficulties which at this time last night appeared extremely formidable are behind us,” (Prime Minister Winston) Churchill said. “The passage of the sea has been made with far less loss than we apprehended.”Gen. Dwight D Eisenhower's supreme headquarters revealed that the Allied armies, carried and supported by 4,000 ships and 11,000 planes, encountered considerably less resistance than had been expected in the storming of Adolf Hitler's vaunted west wall.

Businesses and official activities were at a halt in Butler today in tribute to the brave men and women who are participating in the assault on Hitler's “Fortress Europe.”... Many of the workers in downtown offices and stores, who knew nothing about the invasion until they reached their places of business stopped in churches throughout the city for silent prayer for the success of the invasion.Invasion Bulletins

LONDON — The Allied high command revealed today that the invasion of Western Europe originally was scheduled to take place yesterday but had to be postponed for 24 hours because of bad weather.

BY STANLEY RICHARDSON Representing the combined U.S. NetworksADVANCED ALLIED POST, England, June 6 — I've just returned from the channel approaches to France where I was privileged to watch the opening phases of the largest-scale military invasion operation in history. My ringside seat was a heaving deck of a U.S. naval patrol Torpedo boat on which I traveled across the channel with the first contingent of a naval task force. This force was composed of mostly American units. From the time we left the British coast until we were two to three miles off the French shore, our naval units encountered no enemy opposition whatsoever.

That's the word of the man who today commanded the Allied army group attacking the shores of Hitler-held Europe — Gen. Sir Bernard L. Montgomery.... He believed it would be a “reunion with Rommel” with Marshal Erwin Rommel, his defeated antagonist of the African desert campaign, commanding the German defense on the beach.

Through the cooperation of the Butler merchants, the regular local display advertising has been omitted from today's edition of the Butler Eagle. Instead, merchants have inserted war bond ads. This was done in order to permit the utmost flexibility in handing the invasion news and also as a conservation measure to save paper on a day when it was anticipated that there would be an unusual demand for copies due to the great importance of the news. The regular store advertising will be resumed tomorrow.
