Gravel claims Silver Cup win
BUFFALO TWP — David Gravel held off Donny Schatz to earn victory lane at the 25th Annual Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Sprint race at Lernerville Speedway Tuesday night.
It was the first Silver Cup win for Gravel, of Watertown, Conn. He placed second in his heat race. Then in the 40-lap feature, he kept Schatz from winning the event for the eighth time.
Dale Blaney, a three-time champ and last year’s winner, finished third.
Former Lernerville points champion Tim Shaffer of Aliquippa finished sixth. Local drivers A.J. Flick (21st) of Apollo and Carl Bowser (25th) of Sarver finished among the top 25.
