Scott A. Hankey

Scott A. Hankey, 53, of Butler passed away Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 26, 1965, in Butler, to Ray Hankey and Etta Gray Hankey.

Scott was a graduate of the Butler School District.

He worked for the past 24 years in the hilltop maintenance department at AK Steel.

Scott was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed dirt track races, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities, and he loved traveling to Myrtle Beach. Scott was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Laura Jack Hankey, whom he married on July 19, 2016; a son, Zane Hankey of Butler; two daughters, Nicholle (James) Schoonover of Boyers and Danielle (Tyler Weleski) Hankey of Butler; his stepson, Josh (Kelly) Wakeford of Youngstown, Ohio; his stepdaughter, Kristen (Dylan) Wakeford of Columbus, Ohio; his sister, Susan (John) Relihan of Chicora; his niece, Jaycee Relihan; and a nephew, John Relihan.

HANKEY — Friends of Scott A. Hankey, who died Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Gascoine of Christ Community United Methodist officiating.Burial will take place in North Side Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
