COUNTY

Tours of Preston Park in Butler Township, including the residence and the grounds, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. This two- to three-hour walking tour is available at no cost, but registration is required. Call 724-283-3430 or 724-287-7465 or email mlove@butlertwp.org.

Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays, and will be closed this Thursday and Friday as well as Dec. 26. Call 724-282-0123 or visit www.maridon.org.

Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., offers tours from 1 to 4 p.m. daily, except when the museum is closed Mondays and holidays. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens, and $3 for youths 6 to 17. Call 724-452-7341.

REGION

A model train display is planned from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Saturday with additional hours from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church, 810 Main St., Ford City. Admission is by donation to benefit church missions and by canned food, which will be donated to the Ford City Food Bank. The display is provided by area model railroaders.

PITTSBURGH

Children’s Museum, Allegheny Square, will host the 19th annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive through Dec. 19 The museum will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving but will have extended hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. “Rube Goldberg: The World of Hilarious Invention!” continues through May 5, “Native Voices” through Jan. 6 and “Tough Art” through Jan. 13. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except holidays. Admission is $16 for adults and $14 for children 2 to 18 and senior citizens. Call 412-322-5058.

Carnegie Science Center, North Side presents the Miniature Railroad & Village — Donora’s historic Cement City. The Lego exhibit “The Art of the Brick” runs through Jan. 7. Regular center hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some movies and shows are later. Admission is $19.95 for adults and $11.95 for children 3 to 12; films are extra. Call 412-237-3400.

Heinz History Center, 1212 Smallman St., continues “Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission,” which explores the space race, through Feb. 18. Call 412-454-6000.

National Aviary, 700 Arch St., will have extended evening hours until 9 p.m. as well as refreshments and music on Dec. 13, 20, 26, 27 and 28. The aviary will also feature light displays on its building and habitats, from December through early January. Hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $14 for senior citizens and children 2 to 12. Call 412-323-7235.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland, hosts the exhibition “Reptiles: Live!” which includes 19 dioramas through May 12. The Museums of Natural History and Art are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except closed Tuesdays and holidays. Extended hours are until 8 p.m. some Thursdays. Admission is $19.95 for adults, $14.95 for senior citizens, and $11.95 for children 3 to 18. Call 412-622-3131.

Fort Pitt Museum, Point State Park, has extended its “From Maps to Mermaids: Carved Powder Horns in Early America” exhibition through the end of the year. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $2 off admission for military, and $4.50 for children 6-17. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except holidays. Call 412-454-6415.
