Dylan Slusser

Dylan Slusser

Dylan Slusser, 25, of Butler passed away Friday in Florence, S.C., due to a brain aneurysm.

He was on his way to a training facility to practice on the SX track before Saturday's Atlanta SX race.

Dylan had raced motocross since he was 6 years old and competed nationally since 1999 at only 7 years old. This became his entire life, as well as his whole family's.

Dylan lived his dream to the fullest and traveled all over the U.S. and overseas for the love of racing. He has touched more lives than we could have ever imagined. He was known for his infectious smile, sense of humor and, most of all, his giving nature. He would help anyone, anywhere, at any time, no matter whether it set him back or not.

Dylan was a true privateer of the sport. He was the racer, mechanic and driver, all in one. There is not enough space to include the numerous amounts of sponsors he had, but his main sponsor, other than his parents, was a best bud, Jeff Cernic.

Dylan may not have gotten to do what he went to that track that day for, but he is living his dream in heaven, watching over all of his family and friends.

“We wanted to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, two of his best buddies, Jerry #851 and Michael #392/#41. These two took care of Dylan with so much compassion in getting him to the hospital and being there until the end. They will forever have an angel on their shoulders!”

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” — Proverbs, 27:17, New Living Translation

“Rest in peace! You will be so missed, until we meet again.”

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Lori Slusser; his father, Bernard Slusser; his paternal grandparents, Tom and Lois Slusser; his maternal grandparents, Dennis and Karen Steigerwald; his aunts, Angie Charlton and Jamie Steigerwald; his uncle, Denny “Chris” Steigerwald; and his cousins, Roni, Zach, Scott, Cody, Sarina and Brandon.

Dylan was preceded in death by his cousin, Douglas Charlton, who died Jan. 23, 2016.
