In Brief
Tyler Callihan of Karns City and Andrea Mortimer of Union were named Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference boys and girls basketball MVPs for the 2004-05 season.
Callihan led Butler County and the KSAC in scoring this year, averaging 26.1 points per game. He drained 54 3-pointers as well.
Mortimer paced Union with 16.1 points per game and led the Damsels to KSAC and District 9 championships.
On the boys side, Union's Kyle Hilliard (19.7 ppg.) and Adam Milanovich (14.8 ppg.) made first team All-KSAC, along with Moniteau's Tyler Grossman (20.1 ppg., 35 3-pointers). A-C Valley's Sean Foust (17.8 ppg.) also made first team.
Moniteau's Alyssa Deal (17.0 ppg.) and Union's Bethany Koch (13.6 ppg.) made the first team on the girls side.

Butler graduate Adria Matonak, a junior guard on the St. John Fisher (N.Y.) women's basketball team, scored 17 points Sunday to help the squad defeat Union College, 73-70, for the ECAC Upstate Women's Basketball Championship.The Cardinals (25-5) won the tournament for the second straight year. The team won 25 games for the 16th time in 31 years.
California (Pa.) University's women's basketball team, featuring freshman forward and Butler graduate Kim Nowakowski, has received its fourth straight bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.The Vulcans (25-5), seeded second in the East Refional at Anderson, S.C., play seventh-seeded Wheeling Jesuit (23-8) Friday at a time to be announced.Nowakowski averaged 10.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, blocked 19 shots and leads California with an 81.2 free throw shooting percentage.Slippery Rock graduate Heather Kearney is associate head coach of the squad.
