Two majority owners of the Butler BlueSox on Wednesday criticized the city agency that runs Kelly Automotive Park, saying inaction and a lack of long-term planning by board members has left them concerned that the stadium will fall into disrepair.

Co-owners William C. Robinson Jr. and Larry Sassone offered their comments to the board at its meeting Wednesday.

“This facility has gone downhill over the past three years, and it's due to a lack of maintenance,” Robinson said.

“It's the general feeling you get when you walk in here. You don't go 'this is nice' anymore. The feeling's gone.”

Sassone, for his part, presented board members with a list of long-range plans the club wants the park to pursue, including the installation of indoor locker rooms, replacing the stadium's turf field, upgrades to the stadium's scoreboard, adding a street videoboard and upgrades to the park's sound system.
