County enjoys big racing day

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Butler County experienced plenty of success during harness racing action Friday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Aunt Bee, owned and trained by Susan Callahan of Chicora and co-owned by Gregory Callahan, won a $7,000 Conditioned Trot. It was the 5-year-old mare’s first win of the year.

Chatty Devon, a 5-year-old mare trained and owned by Gary Johnston of Evans City, driven by Shawn Johnston, won a race. Aaron Johnston, Gary’s son and Shawn’s brother, earned a training/driving win with Bigly in a $9,000 Conditioned Trot. Brian Taylor of Prospect and Jennifer Johnston of Wampum own the 3-year-old gelding.

Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove LA Tomcat to victory in a $7,000 Conditioned Claiming Pace.
