April 12, 1951 — July 2, 2006Frederick West “Fred” McCarren was born in Butler in 1951.He graduated from Butler Area High School and attended the University of Cincinnati and Point Park College before graduating from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College.Afterward, McCarren moved to New York City and began a career in acting. He starred opposite Bea Arthur in the 1983 sitcom “Amanda's” and made guest appearances on “Scarecrow and Mrs. King,” “Hill Street Blues,” “Remington Steele,” and “The Golden Girls.”McCareen moved back to Pennsylvania in 1989 and continued to appear in commercials for Mad Mex, Dick's Sporting Goods, PNC, PPG, Comcast and Builder's Surplus.He died from colon cancer at Butler Memorial Hospital in 2006.

March 12, 1933 —Barbara Feldon, born Barbara Ann Hall, is an actress best known for her role of Agent 99 on the 1960s sitcom “Get Smart.”Feldon was born in Butler on South McKean Street in 1933. She studied drama at Carnegie Mellon University and graduated in 1955.Feldon began making brief appearances on television shows in the 1960s. She was cast as Agent 99 opposite Don Adams, playing Agent 86, on “Get Smart” in 1965. She played Agent 99 for the duration of “Get Smart,” from 1965-1970.She was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1968 and 1969.She was Bob Eubanks' first co-host of the annual Jan. 1 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif.
