Butler man sentenced in two assault cases

Darryn A. John

A Butler man was sentenced to probation in two assault cases in Butler County Court on Thursday.

Darryn A. John, 19, was sentenced to 36 months probation total in two cases by county Judge Timothy McCune, after previously pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of simple assault on Aug 15.

John was initially charged with misdemeanor simple assault, intimidating a witness and summary harassment after an incident on April 24.

The second case stems from an incident on Route 8 on June 1, when Penn Township police charged him with misdemeanor simple assault, harassment and recklessly endangering another person.

Police said John assaulted a former girlfriend in a vehicle following an argument.

She told police that while hitting her, the defendant nearly lost control of the car, causing a wreck. Also in the vehicle were the woman's 1-year-old child and her sister.

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
