Seneca Valley turns 50, seals capsule until 2065
JACKSON TWP — As the Seneca Valley School District celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, some school officials have been thinking about what their counterparts will see in another 50 years.
Administrators and school board members Monday night marked the 50th anniversary by sealing a time capsule that will be opened in 2065.
“These items not only identify who we are, but all of our progress and strides that we have made in the past 50 years of our existence as a school district,” Superintendent Tracy Vitale said.
The capsule will be placed in a wall outside the guidance office in the high school. A plaque will be placed there to remind future officials when it is supposed to be opened, said Linda Andreassi, director of communications.
The contents of the capsule include:
• A wooden replica of Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School
• Yearbooks, photographs and programming information
• Seneca Valley T-shirts and a hat
• An ID badge
• Books
• Seneca Valley pins, pens and a car cling window sticker
• Newspaper articles and Raider Pride newsletters
• The certificate of district establishment
• A school calendar and lunch menus
• A turf sample
• A budget and a district feasibility study.
