Police investigate death in Fairview Twp
FAIRVIEW TWP — State police are investigating the death of an elderly man Wednesday afternoon.
According to state police Tpr. Ronald Keston, an emergency call was placed at 12:15 p.m. When investigators arrived at 121 Crosbie Lane, an 82-year-old man was outside the home, already dead from injuries.
Police are not disclosing the nature of the man's injuries.
The son, who had made the emergency call, had apparent gunshot wounds. He was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to Keston.
Police also are not yet releasing the names of the man or his son, and it was immediately unclear who lives at the address.
The area was secured by police, who were waiting for a search warrant. Eight police cars, the Petrolia Ambulance Service and representatives from the Butler County Coroner's office were on the scene.
Keston said investigators are treating the incident as a "death investigation."
