Ohio man claims he's not guilty of charges
An Ohio man accused of exposing himself to an 11-year-old boy withdrew his guilty plea Thursday.
Common Pleas Court Judge William R. Shaffer approved the withdrawal of a guilty plea for Matthew Creighton Robinson, 35, of Lyndhurst, who appeared in court alongside his public defender, Charles Nedz.
Nedz said Robinson accepted the plea deal Jan. 13, but his client never signed the documents.
“(He) met with me shortly after the plea and maintained his innocence,” Nedz said.
According to court documents for the withdrawal, the guilty plea would have applied to the charge of harassment, a third-degree misdemeanor.
“The defendant's plea agreement calls for him to serve a sentence of time served to 12 months incarceration,” the document stated.
Prosecutors did not oppose the withdrawal, but requested a future status conference.
In addition to the harassment charge, Robinson's charges, which were initiated in March, include one count of felony corruption of minors, as well as misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and open lewdness.
According to charging documents, Robinson allegedly was in a car with an adult woman and an 11-year-old boy.
According to victim accounts in the court documents, Robinson allegedly asked the woman to perform sexual acts on him, and then later allegedly made similar propositions to the boy while exposing himself.
Police were notified about the alleged exposure April 3, 2020, through ChildLine, and authorities interviewed the victim in May.
