DELMONT — Three Center Township Elementary School students earned medals at the Golden Blades Figure Skating Championships at Center Ice over the weekend.

Danielle DePolo, 11, won the gold medal for her production team number, silvers in freestyle and individual spotlight, fourth in couples skate.

Christian DePolo, 7, won gold in pairs skating and individual spotlight. Stefani Hartman, 6, won gold in pairs skating and silver in freestyle.

For the season, Danielle DePolo earned two gold medals, four silver and one bronze. Christian DePolo earned four gold and one silver, Hartman one gold and three silvers.

All three are coached by Marty Culbertson.

NEW WILMINGTON — The Butler Tornado 16-Under Volleyball Club won the 12-team Westminster College Tournament Sunday, defeating Trumbull 2-0 in the finals.Butler went unbeaten in the tourney and has won three of five tournaments. The squad will compete in its final tourney Saturday at California (Pa.).Team members include Ashley Grooms, Olivia Weist, Gabby Carney, Heather Straynick, Lauren Maher, Erin Hilderbrand, Suzy Klann and Alyssa DPippa. Coaches are Meghan Lucas and Danielle Hogue.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University’s Matt Howard and Joby Lapkowicz have been named PSAC-West Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.Last week Howard hit .538 (7-for-13) with three runs, one double, one home run and five RBI for SRU.Lapkowicz tossed a no-hitter with nine strikeouts against Clarion on Sunday. he now has tossed 17 consecutive scoreless innings.
