Margie Sourwine

Margie Sourwine, 88, of Sarver, Buffalo Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

She was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Natrona Heights, Harrison Township, and has lived in the valley all of her life. Mrs. Sourwine attended the former Boggs & Buhl, Northside Pittsburgh, for retail training after graduating from Tarentum High School. She worked as a department manager for Hardy & Hayes Jewelers, Pittsburgh.

Margie was a member of the Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Sarver, Buffalo Township.

Margie leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Jefferey L. Sourwine of Mount Gilead, Ohio, and Robert A. Sourwine of Allegheny Township; her four daughters, Anne Sourwine of Verona, Lynne S. Capece of Gainesville, Fla., Karen Lee Sourwine Mozena of Seattle, Wash., and M. Elizabeth deMozenette of Crownsville, Md.; and her nine grandchildren, Joshua Sourwine, Joanna Barr, James Barr, Johnathon Barr, Elizabeth Capece, Eva Mozena Brandon, Roscoe Mozena Brandon, Sophia Mozena Brandon and Isabelle deMozenette.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Sourwine on Aug. 4, 2001; her parents Walter O. and Margaret A. Mozena Barker; and her three brothers, Walter O. Barker Jr., George T. Barker and James L. Barker.

SOURWINE — Family and friends of Margie Sourwine, who died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport. The Rev. Jean Smith, pastor of Buffalo Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Committal services and burial will follow at the Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery, Saxonburg.
