Nancy Carol Ann Powell Hancheck

Nancy Carol Ann Powell Hancheck

Nancy Carol Ann Powell Hancheck, 77, of Butler went to be with the Lord Friday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 23, 1940, in Butler County, and was the only daughter of the late Everett C. and Beatrice E. Powell. She was the only sister of Richard (Shelia) Powell of Connecticut, and Robert (Judy) and Gary (Linda) Powell, both of Butler.

In her senior year of high school, she went to school for half the day, the other half she worked at Trader's Music Store. Not long after, she married her husband, Bob, her one true love on Feb. 27, 1960. They happily worked on their 100 acre farm throughout their lives.

She had worked at Saxonburg Ceramics, then at Napco for a short time.

After her children were raised, she then worked at Pepper's Flowers for 12 years.

Nancy was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

She loved her family dearly. She always played cards and dice. She enjoyed painting the kids' fingernails. Nancy rode all around the farm with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the family's motorized mule.

She always dressed well to the “T” with all her fine jewelry. She always made a true fashion statement. She enjoyed visiting the local clubs as a member. She had a hell of a lot of friends that loved and cherished her as much as she did in return. You could always tell Nancy was in the room. She had a very unique laugh, a laugh of her own.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Hancheck Sr.; her three children, one daughter, Carol (Dan) Markle of Cabot; two sons, Michael (Laurie) Hancheck and Paul (Pam) Hancheck, both of Butler.

She is also survived by her siblings; 10 grandchildren; one grandson; nine granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Hancheck Jr.
