The recent disclosure that lead levels in the water at Summit Elementary School were at unacceptable levels has resulted in the school board Monday night closing the school today and Thursday to figure out how to deal with handwashing for students and staff.

The board also hired an interim water operator and an outside investigator to determine how the water condition could have been allowed to go on for so long.

The board suspended the water operator with pay pending the outcome of a board hearing.
