Raymond “Ray” “Rick” F. Grzywinski

Raymond “Ray” “Rick” F. Grzywinski, 73, of Saxonburg, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot. He was born April 14, 1943, in Natrona Heights, a son of the late Anthony M. and Dorothy E. Dufford Grzywinski.

Ray was a 1961 graduate of Har-Brack High School and a 1965 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Ray retired after 34 years of service as a math and computer teacher for Highlands School District.

He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot. In 1971, Ray was a founding charter member of the Harrison Hills Volunteer Fire Department 169 and later became a life member. He served the fire department as fire chief and president, relief treasurer and fire police captain. Ray was the former emergency management coordinator for Harrison Township. He was a member of the Saxonburg VFC Fire Police. Ray also served 10 years as a Harrison Township Police officer, and after retiring he answered non-emergency 911 calls for the police desk. He was a founding member and past president of N.E.A.R.A. Hazmat Blue Team. Ray was a former board member of the Harrison Township Water Authority. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling.

Ray is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Ann Gulick Grzywinski; his children, Raymond F. Grzywinski Jr. of Saxonburg and Kaitlyn M. (Dane R.) Selfridge of Fort Campbell, Ky.; and his brother, Ronald M. (Patty) Grzywinski of Dayton, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Donald “Donnie” Grzywinski.

GRZYWINSKI — Friends of Raymond “Ray” “Rick” F. Grzywinski, who died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, where a blessing service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday.A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Ward Stakem, his pastor, as celebrant.
