Fire crews were called to a blaze that destroyed an unattached garage and damaged a house at 112 Watterson Lane off Route 308 in Center Township.

No was injured in the fire that started about 3:40 p.m.

A vehicle and other belongings in the garage were also gutted. The fire reportedly started in the garage and spread to the house just feet away.

The renter told authorities that he had just mowed the lawn and parked the riding mower in the garage.

He heard a "pop" from the carburetor but didn't think anything of it.

He went into the house but a short time later saw smoke coming from the garage.

Moments later, the garage was engulfed in flames.
