Helen Jankovich
Helen “Babe” Jankovich, 97, of Butler, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at her residence.
Born March 2, 1925, in Lyndora, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Anna Prenovitz.
Helen was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Lyndora. She was very involved in the church and was a member of the Sisterhood of St. Andrew. She started making the pierogies for St. Andrew, and continued to do so for at least 50 years. She also did catering for many dinners there, as well. She was a fantastic baker — she would bake the bread for the Holy Communion for her church. She enjoyed baking so much that she always had many baked goods to generously give out to others. She took a lot of pride in her home. She was a fan of country music, she took bus trips to Branson, Mo., and to Nashville, Tenn., with her friends. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Her 97th birthday was celebrated with her loving family and friends.
Surviving is her son, Nick (Joni) Jankovich of Butler; two stepgrandchildren, Ron and his wife, Becky, and Rob; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Logan and Nathan; sister-in-law, Kathy Jankovich of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Jankovich Sr., who died April 15, 2011; they were married June 19, 1942. She also was preceded in death by her son, George Jankovich Jr.; six brothers; and two sisters.
