Anderson shines in SRU win
SLIPPERY ROCK — Butler graduate Colby Anderson allowed one run in five innings of his first collegiate start Monday at Critchfield Park, helping Slippery Rock University salvage a split of its basball doubleheader with Clarion.
The Rock (19-12, 10-10) won the second game, 9-2, after dropping a 10-3 decision in the opener.
Anderson, a freshman, struck out four and allowed only two hits. Despite walking five, he carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning.
Joel Spishock hit his first SRU home run and had two hits in the second game. Alex Robenolt — who had four hits on the day — and Koby Bubash had two hits each in the win.
Andy McClymonds and Drew Delaney pitched an inning of relief each for The Rock.
Clarion (12-19, 10-12) scored eight runs in the fifth inning to wrap up the first-game victory. Travis Holman, the first of four Rock pitchers, took the loss.
SRU continues its busy week of baseball Tuesday, hosting Seton Hill for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
