Michael B. Monk

Michael B. Monk, 68, of Butler passed away Monday while at VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Dec. 15, 1946, in Harmony, he was the son of the late Herman and Janice (Sankey) Monk.

Michael was a member of the Grace Church of Harmony. He belonged to the Harmony Moose Lodge and was a former member of the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a former baseball coach for Zelienople and Harmony.

He worked for Knoechel Heating and Zeigler Heating and Cooling.

In his free time, he enjoyed going to the casino, taking trips and hiking, especially in Grand Teton National Park. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Christine (Pease) Monk, who he married June 14, 1969; his children, Michael (Lara) Monk of North Sewickley Township, Mark (Shelley) Monk of Idaho and Jeffrey Monk of Butler; his grandchildren, Tyler, Camryn, Waylon and Winona Monk; his sister, Vicki Lang of Zelienople; his two pet dogs, Lucky and Wyatt; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Monk.

MONK — The family of Michael B. Monk, who died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, will welcome friends from 6 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Peter Everett officiating.Memorial donations may be made in Michael's honor to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
