Joyce C. Ralston, 81, of Freeport, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Joyce was born in Freeport on Nov. 3, 1940, a daughter of the late Marjorie S. (Schwietering) and William T. White.

Joyce was a 1958 graduate of Freeport High School. She enrolled at the St. Margaret's School of Nursing and received her degree as registered nurse in 1960. She worked at St. Margaret Hospital and Butler Memorial Hospital before starting her family. After her girls got a little older she went back to nursing and worked many years as a private duty nurse for families in the Freeport Area.

Joyce was a long-time member of the Freeport Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary. She was a lifelong fan of the Freeport Yellowjacket’s football team and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid reader. Joyce's greatest love was for her family. She was a former member of the old Trinity Episcopal Church in Freeport.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert P. Ralston; her three daughters, Lynne A. Noble and Bob Braun of Worthington, Kathleen A. Copeland and Joe Kihn of Freeport and Christine M. Witenski of Cowensville; and her grandchildren, Danielle Riedell, Deborah Webb, David Riedell, Sarah Copeland, Johnathon Witenski and Jacob Witenski. Joyce also is survived by her five siblings, John T. and Patricia White of Allison Park, William A. White of Laguna Hills, Calif., Phyllis and Edward Petras of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Mark A. and Vicki White of Butler, and Paul E. and Cyndee White of Sarasota, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Gayle Allison White; daughter, Beth Ann Ralston; and grandson, Daniel Patrick Ralston.

RALSTON — Family and friends of Joyce C. Ralston, who died Thursday, April 21, 2022, will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport with the Rev. Edward Volz OPS, officiating.
