Motorcyclist injured in crash on Route 308
CHERRY TWP — A motorcycle driver was injured in a crash this morning on Route 308.
The driver, who was not identified, drove off the road before 7:30 a.m. and into a grassy area for about 300 to 400 feet before re-entering the road near Pleasant Valley Road, said West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department Chief Reid Campbell. The operator then went off his bike and rolled into a ditch.
He was wearing a helmet.
Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash. Before the accident, the driver reportedly passed a few vehicles, Campbell said.
The driver, who is in his 40s, was transported by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital with back and neck injuries. These injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Campbell said.
The accident forced responders to close the northbound lane for about an hour.
