Butler’s bats were held to just four singles by a trio of West Virginia pitchers in the Miners’ 8-0 Prospect League victory at home Thursday night.
Starting pitcher Anthony Arias provided scoreless work until one out into the sixth frame, when Sebastian Williamson took over through the eighth inning.
Milo Sklar then capped the shutout with a perfect ninth.
Nick Mancuso, Kellen Sarver, Nick Spiliotis and Ray Scala each had a base hit for the BlueSox.
Butler’s Jace Warkentien had a rough start on the mound, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out one and walked four.
Cole Horew (2 1/3 innings) and Daniel Patrice (1) followed in relief and combined to allow the final five runs (three earned).
Butler (2-6) travels to Champion City Friday.
