Bonnie Sargent
Bonnie Jean (LaForte) Sargent passed away peacefully April 19, 2022, at Concordia Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot, after her long and powerful battle with renal cell cancer.
Grandmother, Mimi, mother, sister, wife (Babe, Sweetpea), and husband (Duncan) were the words she loved hearing and were most important in her life. Her four grandchildren were her most treasured gifts. Her unerring faith, resilience, positive outlook and determined spirit were strengths admired by family and friends alike. Bonnie had many loving and caring friends, and she gave never-ending comfort to those who comforted her.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Duncan M. Sargent of Slippery Rock.
Bonnie and Duncan had two children, their son, Michael MacGregor Sargent (wife Katherine Marie) of Mendota Heights, Minn., and their children, Colin MacGregor Sargent and Chloe Margo Sargent; and their daughter, Dana Leigh Hepner (husband Brad Lee) of Macomb, Mich., and their children, Jacob Duncan Hepner and Jonah Wilson Hepner.
Bonnie was born to Russell Walter and Viola Charlotte Kastl LaForte of Sturgis, Mich., on Dec. 31, 1945.
She is survived by her best friend and younger sister, Nancy Walton and her family of Grand Rapids, Mich., and her older sister, JoAnn Werner (Thomas) of West Lafayette, Ind.
Other surviving family members are her sister-in-law, Patty Garney and her husband, Charles Garney, and their family of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Bonnie loved playing cards of any kind, but especially with the ladies of her bridge groups, cooking new recipes, and mahjong.
Her faith was very important to her, and she was a member of St. Faustina Catholic Church in Slippery Rock.
Bonnie loved growing seasonal flowers, sewing, crocheting, needlework and was active in her church sewing ministry for many years.
