Freeport’s Schmidt shines in win
ERIE — Freeport graduate Ashleigh Schmidt tossed a one-hitter, striking out nine as the Penn State Behrend softball team shut out Pitt-Bradford, 5-0, in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday.
Schmidt picked up her seventh win of the season.
Allegheny-Clarion Valley graduate Cami McNany had two doubles and four RBI for Behrend (15-11, 9-2) in the second game, a 17-4 win.
