Betty Lou Butia

Betty Lou “Betsy” Butia, 71, of Butler passed away Wednesday.

Born Jan. 17, 1945, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Welker) Butia.

Betsy was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She was under the care of Community Care Connections for 28 years, where she was surrounded by compassionate and loving caretakers and staff. She enjoyed the comfort of living in a normal family setting. She loved going to the “go center” for her daily social activities, where she made many friends.

The family would like to thank all of her caretakers for giving Betsy as much of a normal life as they could possibly imagine. Caretakers are definitely “God's angels,” who were put on this Earth to care for the less fortunate. Their outpouring of love is endless.

Betsy leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved siblings, Patricia Rice of Portersville, Marge (Lawrence) Feevey of Slippery Rock, Sharron (Donald) Lutz of Harmony, Terry (Jackie) Butia of Evans City and Sandra Malone of Harmony; 41 nieces and nephews; her brother-in-law, Bob Guillard; and her sister-in-law, Norma Butia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Darrell Butia; one sister, Doris Guillard; and her brothers-in-law, Bill Rice and Bill Malone.
