John W. “Jack” Rearick Jr.
John W. “Jack” Rearick Jr., 93, of Connoquenessing passed away Wednesday at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Connoquenessing, to the late John W. “Jack” Rearick Sr. and the late Margaret Mae “Peg” Lobaugh Rearick.
Jack retired from the weld department at Butler Armco in 1986, after 43 years of employment. He was an active member of Connoquenessing United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and served as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher for many years. He was also a member of Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department and the Butler Hunting and Fishing Club, where he was the secretary.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II and also in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He served as a Boy Scout leader and explorer for many years, as an assistant manager for the Meridian Fife and Drum Corps, as a Pennsylvania Game deputy for many years, and as mayor of Connoquenessing when they built the new post office.
When Mr. Rearick was younger, he played baseball, golf and bowled, but he particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Rearick is survived by his three daughters, Barbara J. Hiles and her husband, Charles, of Butler, Deborah K. Frederick of Butler and Lezlee S. Shulik of Connoquenessing; three granddaughters; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Wendell L. Rearick and his wife, Mary Lou, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jean L. Hilliard Rearick, whom he married Aug. 28, 1946, and who died March 10, 2017; and two brothers.
REARICK — Per the wishes of John W. “Jack” Rearick Jr., who died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. A combined memorial service for John W. “Jack” Rearick Jr. and his wife, Jean L.
