Mary E. Hays Rodgers
Mary Edna Hays Rodgers was born April 4, 1931, and she went to be with the Lord on Tuesday.
She was the daughter of Earl Harrison Hays and Mary Catherine O'Donnell Hays of Chicora.
Mary Edna married George Joseph Rodgers on Aug. 31, 1950, in the Old St. Mary Church in Cumberland, Md. George went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2008.
She was a 1949 graduate of Chicora High School.
Mary Edna was a member of the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, Carbon Center, Butler.
She enjoyed all her children, grandchildren, working with her flowers, gardens, bingo and reading.
She had been employed over the years by Cinema World at Point Plaza and by Old Plank Estates.
She has four daughters, Linda Young and her husband, James Jr., of Butler; Carol Rodgers and her companion, Scott Logan, of Chicora; Bonnie Bane and her husband, Tom Jr., of East Brady, and Lisa Rodgers of Butler. She has two sons, George Rodgers Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Butler and David Rodgers Sr. and his companion, Catherine Hauserman, of Chicora. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren
She has two brothers, Charles Hays of Davison, Mich., and John Regis Hays and his wife, Johanna Hays, of Lake George, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Mary L. Butler of Butler; and brothers-in-law: Clyde Rodgers and his wife, Darlene, of Butler; Paul Rodgers and his wife, Eve, of Butler; Carl Rodgers and his wife Cathy of Kenai, Alaska; Leo Rodgers and his wife, Helen, of Carbon Center, Butler; Regis Rodgers and his wife, Margie, of Chicora; Gerald Rodgers of Butler; and Ed Rodgers and his wife, Carla, of Portersville. Many cousins, nieces and nephews survive.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, five sisters, three brothers, and a great-granddaughter.
<B>RODGERS</B> — Friends of Mary Edna Hays Rodgers, who died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets in Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 Carbon Center Road, Butler, with the Rev.
