Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays. Museum admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8 accompanied by an adult. Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, will have an Herb and Garden Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Harmonist Barn. Museum tours include the 1809 main museum building and wine cellar and a neighboring early 19th-century house, both built by the communal Harmony Society, and a Mennonite log house, offered from 1 to 4 p.m. daily, except when the museum is closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens age 60 and older, and $3 for youths ages 6 to 17. Call 724-452-7341.

Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, 401 Meadowcroft Road, Avella, Washington County, part of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center museum system, will host the 21st annual Atlatl Competition from noon to 5 p.m. June 16. Prehistoric hunters used a spear-thrower called the atlatl, a precursor to the bow and arrow. Visitors can learn proper atlatl technique and try out the prehistoric spear-thrower for themselves, then compete in different divisions. Meadowcroft admission is $15 for adults, $14 for senior citizens, and $7 for students and children ages 6 to 17. Call 724-587-3412.

PITTSBURGH

Fort Pitt Museum in Point State Park, part of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center museum system, will be the site of “Artillery and Artificers” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Aug. 4 and 5. Visitors can witness how artillerists at historic Fort Pitt prepared for cannon firings to defend the Point and learn how artisans like tinners and blacksmiths helped produce 18th century artillery. Carnegie Science Center on the North Side will open the Lego exhibit “The Art of the Brick” on June 16. Science center hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $18.95 for adults and $11.95 for children ages 3 to 12; films are extra. Call 412-237-3400.
