Robert L. “Bob” Bowers

Robert L. “Bob” Bowers, 80, of Butler passed away on Monday at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

He was born Nov. 11, 1937, in East Butler. He was a son of the late Lawrence A. Bowers and Marie (Lively) Bowers.

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Butler High School.

He worked at Armco as a steel worker, retiring in 1996, and also at Endicott Shoes.

He was a member of Community Alliance Church where he was in the church choir, was the church treasurer, and was a youth sponsor.

Bob was a member of the BUCO Travel Trailer Club. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed roller skating and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor J. “Tootie” (Cuffman) Bowers, whom he married June 14, 1957; three daughters, Bonnie Matonak and her husband, James, of Butler, Susan Conrad and her husband, John, of Butler, and Carol Lenhart and her husband, Ron, of Butler; nine grandchildren, Dawn (Jason) Henricks, Joshua (Dana) Matonak, Kelly (Joshua) Tysk, Joel (Krista) Matonak, Danielle (Roger) Neyman, Melanie (Matt) McDermid, Chelsy (Adam) Olsen, Alyssa Lenhart and Kayla Lenhart; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence H. Bowers.

BOWERS — Friends of Robert L. “Bob” Bowers, who died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held immediately following at 11 a.m. with Bob's niece, Diane Cuffman, pastoral assistant of Memorial Park Church in Allison Park, officiating.Private burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Endowment Fund at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
