BUTLER TWP —- Investigators used fingerprints to identify the man found Sunday shot to death in the basement of the former American Legion home in Lyndora.

Township police on Friday announced the state police Records and Identification Unit identified the dead man as 24-year-old Shawn Michael Murphey of Butler.

Investigators released no other information, including potential suspects or theory of how Murphy's decomposing body ended up —- mainly undressed, hidden under a blue tarp with a bullet hole in his head —- in the basement of the former American Legion home at 100 Bessemer Ave. in Lyndora.
