Music event raises money for two organizations
The Roots Rally 2 will be held from noon to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille, 103 Slade Lane, Warrendale.
Organizer Jeff Scheller said the event has three aims: the first is to honor his daughter, Riley, who died in 2008 due to a brain tumor.
Second, the event is a fundraiser to give back to two of the charities that helped the Scheller family: The Highmark Caring Place and Make-A-Wish (Marshall Middle Kids for Wish Club).
And, third, the event is a celebration of American roots music.
There will be six bands: noon, Well Strung (bluegrass); 1:15 p.m. Pierce Dipner and the Shades of Blue (blues); 2:30 p.m. Tiger Maple String Band (old time); 3:45 p.m. Dizzy Woosh (acoustic rock gumbo): 5 p.m. Boom Rockets, (rockabilly and surf); and 6:15 p.m. Buffalo Rose (modern folk).
Tickets can be purchased at the Jergel’s Rhythm Grille website or at the door.
