Get 'animals' off bus

My children ride Bus 152, owned by A. J. Myers & Sons Transportation, to and from Mars Area Middle School. On several occasions over the past two years, I have made complaints to Myers Transportation and the school concerning a group of unruly individuals who ride this bus. These particular "children" act like a bunch of animals on the bus.

They constantly fight with others, punch, hit, pull hair, scream, yell and shout profanities at others on the bus. They continually voice profanities at the bus driver and scream at him.

They create chaos on this bus, thus endangering the lives of our children as well as other innocent people traveling the same route as this bus.

In return, the bus driver swears back at these kids, probably out of total frustration.

I have made numerous complaints to Myers; I have asked that Mr. Myers return my calls, but he never does.

In regard to the complaints I have made to Mars Middle School regarding these individuals, when I call the bus garage I am told they are aware of the situation, they are well aware of who these individuals are, but basically their hands are tied. It is up to the school to "dish out the punishment," they say.

They tell me the bus driver has to write the people up who are causing the problems and turn the information in to the middle school principal.

When I've spoken to the bus driver, he told me these kids swear at him on a daily basis, run back and forth from seat to seat, yelling, screaming, and hitting or kicking others on the bus. He says "my hands are tied."

When I have talked to the school, I have been told that these children, when written up, are dealt with. Occasionally, Myers and Cornell will get on the school bus; apparently the answer is to yell at everyone on the bus and saying that "we better not have to get on this bus again for these issues."

When they get off the bus, this group of students laughs and swears at them.

Obviously, this "solution" of Myers and Cornell is not working.

The bus driver is fed up with the problems, and, as a parent, so am I.

On May 1, I got a call from my daughter at 3:25 p.m. asking me to pick her and her brother up at the school. Apparently they had a substitute bus driver that day who had these unruly "animals" acting out, so he turned the bus around and contacted Myers, Cornell and the Adams Township Police Department.

These same individuals were swearing at the substitute bus driver because he would not put on a radio station that they wanted. When the bus arrived back at the middle school, Cornell, Myers and township police were waiting for them.

My question is, what is it going to take to finally have these unruly, disrespectful children removed from the bus? The other students who ride that bus do not deserve to have to ride on an unsafe bus every day.

Will it take a distracted bus driver to have an accident before something is done to end this situation?
