Edith L. Hays
Edith L. Hays, 83, of Chestnut Ridge Drive, Clarion, passed away Monday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.
Born Feb. 24, 1932, in Dagus Mines and raised on Gardner Hill, Elk County, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah King and Florence Olean Beatrice (Carlson) Beck.
She attended Jay Township High School, Allentown Bible Institute and received a registered nurse degree at the Clearfield Nursing School.
She married the late Robert M. Hays on June 2, 1962. He passed away Dec. 2, 2015.
She was an active member of the Clarion Free Methodist Church for nearly 50 years and then became a member of the Clarion First United Methodist Church.
She was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning. She was especially noted for her pickles.
Surviving are her daughter, Cinthia K. Hays; her son, R. Colin (Donna) Hays; two grandchildren, Robert P. and Theresa M. Hays, all of Butler; one brother, Victor A. Beck of Emlenton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are two sisters, Ellen P. Garner and Eileen P. Swackhammer; and two brothers, Virgil J.K. and Vincent J.J. Beck.
HAYS — Friends and family of Edith L. Hays, who died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin R. Haley, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Clarion, officiating.
