Isaiah John “Ike” Stevenson Sr., 79, of Butler was called home to be with the Lord at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday when he was surrounded by his family

Isaiah was born July 17, 1934, and was the son of the late Goldie Rebecca (Bowser) Stevenson and Harry Herbert Stevenson Sr.

Isaiah Stevenson is survived by his devoted wife, Ninna Arlene (Hoover) Stevenson, who he married Aug. 16, 1955. Ike and Arlene celebrated life, love and family for 58 years.

Isaiah Stevenson also is survived by two sons, Isaiah John “Jack” Jr. and Kirby and his wife, Pam; and one daughter, Sherri Wood and her husband, David. Isaiah “Gramps” is also survived by his grandchildren “the little darlings,” Nicole Stevenson, Ryan Stevenson and his wife, Shannon, Jenna (Wood) Rhodaberger and her husband, Nathaniel, Abbey (Wood) Walsh and her husband, Conlan, Brendon Stevenson and Taylor Stevenson. He also is survived by three great-grandchildren, Case Stevenson, Simeon Rhodaberger and Addison Walsh, and special family member Lori (Hoover) Bortmas, all of Butler. Also, five siblings, Harry Stevenson Jr. and his wife, Marie, Beatrice Burns and her husband, Chuck, Lois Calihan and Richard Stevenson, all of Butler, and William Stevenson and his wife, Glenda, of Idaho and a number of nieces and nephews survive.

Isaiah “Ike” Stevenson was employed by Ray Andres as a mechanic until his retirement. Ike was the mechanic of all mechanics.

He loved gardening and scratch off tickets. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Isaiah was a hard working, honest man who was dedicated to his family and will be greatly missed until we see him again.

Isaiah Stevenson was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and several nieces and nephews.

STEVENSON — Friends and family of Isaiah John “Ike” Stevenson Sr., who passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. Friday with Pastor Richard Jenks of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church officiating.
