William R. Pflugh

William R. Pflugh, 88, of Butler passed away Friday at midnight at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Butler to the late David Roy Pflugh and the late Catherine M. Shearer Pflugh.

Mr. Pflugh was a member of the Christ Outreach Church. He attended Butler High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Pflugh worked in the maintenance department for Spang and Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a driver for Meals on Wheels, a former church deacon and a choir member. Mr. Pflugh was a member of the Connoquenessing Lodge 278 I.O.O.F. and the American Legion Post 117. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, working in the yard, dining out and camping.

Mr. Pflugh is survived by two daughters, Donna Pflugh of Butler and Jane Swartzlander and her husband, Russell, of Rittman, Ohio; one grandchild, Sally Swartzlander of Rittman, Ohio; one brother, George D. Pflugh and his wife, Jean, of Butler; one sister, Elaine Bouchard of Orlando, Fla.; one niece; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ione Dorothy Marshall Pflugh, who he married May 1, 1947, and who passed away April 6, 2010; and one sister, Aletha Herold.

PFLUGH — Friends of William R. Pflugh, who passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary A. Koontz of Christ Outreach Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 218 E. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
