BUTLER TWP — Slippery Rock University dance theatre's “Forward Momentum” concert will present original choreography in a variety of genres and styles by dance majors and an alumna guest artist at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at The Succop Theater at Butler County Community College.
Nine SRU dance majors were chosen for choreography, while 40 students will present the concert.
Tickets are $10 for the public and $5 for SRU students and are available at the information desk in the Smith Student Center and at the Succop Theater box office one hour before each performance.
FOXBURG — The second annual Winter Fest, a two-day event planned for Saturday and Sunday, will feature the RiverStone Classic Sled Dog Race at 10 a.m. both days at RiverStone Farm. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m.RiverStone gates open at 8:30 a.m. Admission to the grounds and parking are free. Food will be available for purchase.Other activities planned at the farm include ice skating on the pond, snow tubing and sled riding, all depending on weather.If conditions allow, horse drawn sleigh and bobsled rides will be available for a fee during the afternoon.There must be 2 to 3 inches of snow for dog sled racing. FRAZER TWP, Allegheny County — Wagman Winterfest starts with solar viewing at 4 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory, Deer Lakes Regional Park, near Russellton. OIL CITY — The Oil City Arts and Culture Commission and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Venango County have teamed up to host Oil City's sixth annual Oil Country Bluegrass Festival Feb. 22 to 24 at the Days Inn, formerly The Arlington Hotel, 1 Seneca St.Performances take place about every half hour beginning at 6 p.m. or shortly thereafter Feb. 22; by 1 p.m. Feb. 23; and by 9 a.m. Feb. 24.Bands will be donating their time to benefit the sponsoring entities. AMBRIDGE — Old Economy Village offers a behind-the-scenes look at the historical site from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
