RIMERSBURG — Union High School will honor its 1960 football team — the first unbeaten squad in school history — before its homecoming game Sept. 30.
The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. and a reception at the Rimersburg Rod and Gun Club will follow the game.

PITTSBURGH — The Pirates will open the 2011 season on the road Friday, April 1 against the Cubs and will play their home opener on Thursday, April 7 against the Rockies.They will be at home on July 4 and Labor Day, Sept. 5, both against the Astros. Interleague home series will be against the Tigers (May 20-22), Orioles (June 20-22) and Red Sox (June 24-26).The Astros, Cardinals and Reds all play nine times each in PNC Park. No NL team from outside the Central Division will play more than one series in Pittsburgh. The Braves play only two games there, May 24-25.June and August will be the busiest months for home games, with 16 each. There will be 13 in April and 12 each in May, July and September.
OTTAWA — NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced Wednesday that the Ottawa Senators will host the 2012 All-Star Game.The game will be played on Jan. 29, 2012, at Scotiabank Place, with the festivities beginning a few days earlier on Jan. 26.It will be the first time Ottawa has hosted the game.The Carolina Hurricanes will host the 2011 All-Star Game in Raleigh, N.C.
MOSCOW — Russia's top investigative body opened a criminal probe into alleged misspending of millions of dollars on preparations for the Vancouver Winter Olympics.The Investigative Committee said Wednesday it is looking into the allegations of fraud that cost the state $7.5 million. It didn't name any names, but said the probe will look into allegations of abuses by officials of the Sports Ministry.The country, won only three golds and 15 total medals in Vancouver, putting the investment cost of each medal at $12.4 million. Russia spent five times less in Turin in 2006, when it won eight golds.
