CONCORD TWP — A barn filled with hay and welding equipment went up in flames early this morning.

No one was hurt in the fire reported about 12:35 a.m. at the home of Jim and Judy Roxberry at 222 Campbell Road.

The couple was sleeping when their dogs in the house started barking.

“The dogs woke us up,” Jim Roxberry said. “I got out of bed and looked out the window. The whole back of the house was orange.”

He saw the flames devouring the barn, about 75 feet from his house, and calling 911.

But Roxberry knew it was too late to save the 36-by-36-foot barn he built when he retired in 2008.

“When I looked out,” he said, “I knew you might as well say good-bye.”

Two troopers were first to get there. Soon after, firefighters from West Sunbury, North Washington, Marion Township and Eau Claire showed up.

Fire officials are investigating what caused the blaze.

The pole building constructed of wood beams with steel siding and roof contained 600 bales of hay. It also shop equipment.

The property is insured, Roxberry said.
