Three holiday home tours take place this weekend.

The 28th annual Holiday Tour of Homes presented by the Butler County Symphony Association will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. Call 724-283-1402.

Zelienople Historical Society’s 25th annual Christmas Home Tour will be at 9 a.m. Saturday. Call 724-452-9457.

In Cranberry Township, the Christmas House Tour hosted by the Cranberry Women’s Club will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Call 724-538-3622 or 724-772-2924.

[naviga:h3]Historic site has open house[/naviga:h3]

BRADY TWP — The Old Stone House’s Christmas Open House will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10, sponsored by the Friends of the Old Stone House.

Christmas at an early American stage coach stop and tavern will be presented. Admission is free.

[naviga:h3]Music group plays Handel[/naviga:h3]

ADAMS TWP — Opus I Music Society on Dec. 11 will present a program about George Frideric Handel and his connections, featuring recorded music as well as live performances of Handel’s music, including a singalong to “The Hallelujah Chorus.”

Admission is free, and refreshments and fellowship will take place at 9:30 a.m. before the 10 a.m. program in the music room at LifePointe Alliance Church, Route 228.

[naviga:h3]Jennings hosts programs[/naviga:h3]

BRADY TWP — Jennings Environmental Education Center will be the site of these programs in December.

Nature Detectives: Mining Mysteries will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday (registration free but required by Friday).

“DIY for the Birds” will be from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 9 with craft projects for ages 12 and older (registration required by Monday, and there is a fee for the project).

A Winter Wonder Walk is planned for 10 a.m. Dec. 28 (free and no registration needed).

And a First Night Hike will begin at 10:30 p.m. Dec. 31 (free and registration requested, though not required).

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University’s Bassoon Choir with Pittsburgh Opera bassoonist Linda Morton Fisher will present “A Concert of All Things Bassoon” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 in the Swope Music Hall.

[naviga:h3]Mystery dinner staged[/naviga:h3]

JEFFERSON TWP — A mystery dinner “A Christmas Peril” by Mystery’s Most Wanted will be staged Saturday at the Saxonburg VFW across from Knoch High School. Doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner starts at 6 p.m.

The evening is sponsored by the Friends of the South Butler Community Library. Seating is limited. Call 724-352-4810.
