Moniteau grads shine at GCC mini-meet

GROVE CITY — Moniteau graduates James Parenti and Jake Patton won track and field events at the Grove City College annual mini-meet Wednesday at Thorn Field.

Parenti, a Grove City junior, won the discus with a throw of 148 feet. Patton, a Westminster College senior, won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.69 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 54.04.

Rottman leads way in Thiel DH sweep

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Moniteau graduate Abby Rottman had a big day at the plate in Thiel College’s 5-1, 11-5 softball doubleheader sweep of Franciscan University Wednesday.

Rottman drilled a three-run homer in the first game. She added a triple, single and three RBI in the second game.

Scheuneman resigns as WPIAL director

PITTSBURGH — The WPIAL has accepted the resignation of Executive Director Amy Scheuneman. He resignation takes effect June 1.

Scheuneman began her tenure with the WPIAL as Associate Executive Director in July of 2019. Her new position will be announced no later than Monday.

The WPIAL Board of Directors will meet Tuesday to discuss the process in naming the district’s next Executive Director.

Hudanick receives NFF Honor award

IRVING, Texas — Seneca Vallery graduate and California (Pa.) University graduate student Eric Hudanick has been recognized by the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.

Nominees for the honor must carry a grade point average above 3.20 while completing their final year of eligibility as a starter. Hudanick was a four-year starter on the Vulcans’ offensive line, the team finishing 9-1 this season.
