Burton Bloom Sr.
Burton W. Bloom Sr., 86, of Zelienople, formerly of Evans City, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, in the comfort of his home within the Passavant Retirement Community.
Born Feb. 9, 1935, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Burton Ralph Bloom and Genevieve Rape Bloom.Burton proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked at New Penn Freight and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 249 until his retirement. He served as president of Local 538 in Kittanning for eight years. Burton was also a member of the Evans City Sportsman Club. An avid gardener in his free time, he was passionate about growing and caring for his tomatoes and dahlias. Additionally, he was enthusiastically involved in youth sports in Evans City and Seneca Valley. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Rita Jocuns Bloom; his children, B. Wayne Bloom Jr., and his wife, Violet, of Waynesville, N.C., Ramona White and her husband, Thomas, of Harmony, and Renee Bloom and her husband, Paul Schaffer, of Butler; his grandchildren, Joshua (Caroline) Smith, Matthew (Lisa) Smith, Benjamin (Marli) White, Ethan (Jenna) White, Alexander White, Natalie Bloom, and Burton Bloom III; his great-grandchildren, Oliver and Leo; and his sister, Beatrice Allemang of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Albert Allemang.Bloom Sr. — Friends of Burton W. Bloom Sr., who died Friday, June 11, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E.
