Steam show has summer eventPORTERSVILLE — Portersville Steam Show’s summer show will feature Minneapolis Moline tractors and equipment today through Sunday. Gates open at 8 a.m. and music or other activities run into the evenings each day except Sunday.Admission is $3 today and Sunday and $5 on Friday and Saturday. Go regatta this weekendMUDDY CREEK TWP — This year’s Regatta at Lake Arthur, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, offers free admission and parking. Get ready for farm showCONNOQUENESSING TWP — Chicken and eggs will make their return at the 68th annual Butler Farm Show.The show removed the poultry category from last year’s event, following Avian flu concerns nationwide.Bates Brothers Amusement will provide the carnival rides.The gates open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and the show runs Monday through Aug. 13.Free concerts will be available throughout the week with musicians such as the Rumblers, American Idol contestant Isaac Cole and the Allegheny Drifters. Art, music set in UndergroundVisitors can see the “2008 Gallery” upon entering a punk/indie rock style music show at 6 p.m. Friday at the Underground Gallery downstairs at The Butler Art Center.This first show of the 2008 Gallery is curated by Northwest Pennsylvania artist Ryan Kola.The exhibit will consist of oil on canvas paintings by Kola, Jessi Price, and the late Ralph D’Antonio.Musical acts will include “One If By Land” and “The Long Knives,” among others.The Butler Art Center is at 344 S. Storytelling fest looks for liarsPITTSBURGH — The Liars Contest is back as part of the Three Rivers Storytelling Festival. The contest is 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Schenley Plaza.
