Alleged dealers charged

3 in county prison after heroin raid

Three suspected heroin dealers were arrested and thousands of dollars seized in a raid Tuesday by Butler County drug officers and city police at a Butler apartment, authorities said.

Charged with drug trafficking are Zachery M. Booher, 19, Terri Ann Lemon, 45, and Mark W. Yockey, 43, who were all living and allegedly dealing drugs at the apartment building in the 100 block of Standard Avenue.

The defendants are in the county prison on $100,000 bail each.

“It was quick work,” said county Detective Tim Fennell, who heads the county Drug Task Force. “(Officers) found out what was going on at that apartment and bam, they took it down.”

Fennell admitted he was unfamiliar with the suspects. He also did not know how long they have been living at the apartment.

Authorities were unable to contact the landlord, who lives in Adams Township, to determine if any of the defendants are listed on the lease.

Based on information of purported drug dealing at the home, officers got a search warrant, which was served just after 8:15 a.m., Fennell said.

All three suspects were at the apartment at the time. Also there was a 16-year-old girl. Officers described her as a “buyer.”

The girl, who was not charged, was later turned over to county Children and Youth Services officials.

The search of the apartment turned up 101 stamp bags of suspected heroin, a small amount of packaged marijuana, scales and “owe sheets” on which the alleged dealers kept records of drug sales, Fennell said,

Additionally, officers confiscated $6,230 in currency, $1,795 in gift cards and a set of brass knuckles.

Fennell speculated that the gift cards to department stores possibly were used to convert drug cash or they may have been accepted as payment for drugs.

The defendants gave no statements to officers only to claim they don’t use drugs.

“They got six grand in cash, and they’re not users,” Fennell said. “So that makes them dealers.”

Booher, Lemon and Yockey all were arraigned on felony and misdemeanor drug possession and conspiracy charges. Booher also is charged with possessing a prohibited offensive weapon, the brass knuckles.

Authorities noted that following the raid the city’s code inspector was called to the apartment building to look for any violations. There are eight apartments there.
