World of Children to perform

The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will host a World of Children concert at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carousel Shelter of Alameda Park.

World of Children is a group of hearing children dressed in international costumes who perform sign language to music. The concert is free and open to the public.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Legion Riders of Butler County invite World War II Veterans to participate in a free, one-day trip to Washington, D.C., on Aug 23. The coach bus will leave Butler at 7 a.m. and will return by 10 p.m.A health professional will ride on the bus for emergencies. Each WWII veteran must be capable of navigating on their own. The coach bus cannot accommodate wheelchairs.American Legion members should contact their Legion to inform the commander and contact Dick Michael at 724-290-8294. Today is the deadline to call. Veterans who are not current Legion members should contact Dick Michael and will be required to provide a copy of their DD-214 to verify they served and were honorably discharged.

Participants should take table service, tureen and auction items.• <B>Bicker family reunion</B>, 5:30 p.m. Aug. 9, Zion United Methodist Church, 482 Bear Creek Road, Sarver. Participants should take table service and tureen.• <B>Wise family</B> (Daniel and Polly Powell) reunion, 4:30 p.m. Sunday, home of Bob and Alene Sankey, 138 Green Manor Drive. Participants should take tureen and a wrapped item for the white elephant sale.• <B>O'Conner family reunion</B>, 1 p.m. Sunday, Grove City Park. Participants should take a dish or dessert and a wrapped gift for bingo.• <B>Karenbauer family reunion</B>, 1 p.m. Aug. 10, Kriley Pavilion, Kriley Grove Lane, Herman. Participants should take a tureen, beverages and sports equipment.• <B>McCartney 98th family reunion</B>, 1 p.m. Sunday, Lambert residence and pavilion, 386 Fanker Road, Harmony. The Butler Public Library will end its summer reading program with a party from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 218 N.
