Michael A. Benedict

Michael A. Benedict, 72, of Middlesex Township passed away Wednesday.

He was the beloved husband for 43 years of Kathleen L. (Cicone) Benedict; the loving father of Sean (Michelle) Benedict, Nicole (Todd Richards) Benedict, Lara Benedict and Mark Benedict; the brother of James (Carol), Stephen (Louise) and Eugene (Gloria) Benedict; and the cherished grandfather of Lucas and Jacob Benedict.

Michael was a proud graduate of Duquesne University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in English and his master's degree in counseling.

He was an English teacher for 35 years at Fox Chapel High School. During the span of his tenure, he became head of the English Department and mentored student teachers. He also served as an adjunct faculty member at his alma mater and did national consulting work, where he assisted school districts in designing their English curriculum.

Michael was an avid reader and enjoyed writing and discussing poetry. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and colleagues.

BENEDICT — The family of Michael A. Benedict, who died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 a.m. Monday at the Holy Sepulcher Church with the Rev. Robert J. Cedolia as celebrant.
